SAINT PETKA – SAINT DAY OF MEDIANA MUNICIPALITY

Mediana Municipality, with the blessing of the Archbishop of Nis Jovan and with the holly ceremony of cutting the Saints Slava day cake and in the presence of many friends in St. Sava Hall celebrated Saint Petka. Boban Dzunic, president of Palilula Municipality wished the best to Nebojsa Krstic, president of Municipality and vice president Milan Krstic, including all the councilors of Mediana. With the wish to emphasize the benevolence, Mediana Municipality starting from this year to give `Blagodarnica`. Saint Petka always helped all who were in trouble and who were calling her name and her name is because of that Blagodarnica (the one who gives willingly). It will be given on the day when we are celebrating this Saint woman of Serbian origin and symbolical way of our Municipality is to thank to all noble people, organizations, foundations and institutions for their good deeds that they have given to their most beloved ones, said president of Mediana Municipality.

First winners of Blagodarnica are: Veran Matic and B92 for humanitarian action `Battle for Babies`, Nis Natal Department – Department for in vitro fertilization and treatment of sterility and Administration for children, social and primary protection, City of Nis.

President of Mediana Municipality on this occasion represented also two big projects of Municipality `17 fountains for 17 centuries of Christianity`, that is being realized under the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia Irinej and other big project that, as a guidepost to Nis and through Nis should be put copies of archeological exhibits from the times of Saint Emperor Constantine that represent the most significant moments from his life. They would be on accessing roads to Nis and on Nis roundabouts. All the cities and municipalities in Serbia were also called that within the Celebration of Milan Edict can have their day in Nis that will be dedicated to this world jubilee.
